“A very moving and disturbing film” says TED talk famous Dr. Andrew Solomon. A series of cracks in the mental health system makes it almost impossible for parents to find good mental health care for their children.
SYNOPSIS
When children struggle, social and clinical response has traditionally been to blame their parents. New research turns these assumptions on their head. Families are much more than “the problem.” In fact, they are usually the key to their children’s safety and recovery. Going Sane tells the stories of parents who have been left in the waiting room for too long. They are realizing, along with mental health professionals, that they must be more involved.
- Understand what evidence-based therapy is and why it matters
- Learn the history of family blame in psychotherapy
- Feel empowered to get involved in your child's care
